What are some ESSENTIALS for a camping trip?
Question by BBall_Samurai (Fear the Turtle): What are some ESSENTIALS for a camping trip?
It’s for a few days, but I like being prepared!
I’m going camping and haven’t finished packing yet. Are there some things I DEFINITELY HAVE TO bring (or should bring)?
Suggestions? Advice?

Water, canteen and cup, water filter pump, purification tablets
camp food
fishing rod if there’s fishable water nearby (applicable license as well)
camp cooking kit (pot, pan) and plate
grill
a knife or 2 or 3 (various sizes)
flashlights- mag-light (with emergency strobe option) and head lamp (head lamp might look silly, but it beats trying to hold a light while taking care of business), and extra batteries
camp saw
small camp axe
all-weather lighter and all-weather matches
“hobo” silverware (light-weight folding spoon, fork, knife, opener set)
sleeping bag (also, camp pillow or folded jacket or clothes)
compression sack (makes sleeping bag small)
tent and patch kit
e-tool (folding shovel and pick)
compass
map
emergency whistle
bug spray
sunscreen
camp soap (Dr. Bronners is a great concentrate that can be used for everything)
tooth brush
wash-cloth
towel
some 550 cord for tying things up or off.
first aid kit (disinfectant/neosporin, bandages)
camping clothes (comfortable cargo pants, hiking shoes or boots, etc)
mesh bags for laundry
vacuum/waterproof compressable bags
gun and ammo (Self defense!)
oh yeah… TP!
Have fun!

Mosquito repellant is a good idea. Tent, sleeping bag, water, food, knife, utensils, wet wipes, aspirin, cortizone (or any lotion for poison ivy and mosquito bites), lantern/ flashlight, radio, reading material, bubble gum, friends, Pizza Hut nearby……. The tent isn’t all that necessary. There is nothing like looking up at the stars like cowboys used to do especially out west in Big Sky country. Have a good time.
toilet paper, no 1, tent or sleeping bag, food, hey ur camping, oh bug spray
clothes (duh)
water bottles
cooler with ice
sleeping bag
tent or camper
camp foods
tablecloth
flashlight
playing cards
matches or lighter
dryer lint because it is an exellant fire starter
hiking shoes
bathing suit (if there is a lake or something)
trash bags
bug repellant
paper plates
napkins
first aid kit
Avoid bear-bate.
If with spouse, bare bate is fine; beer bate is never necessary.

I’m the same way when packing for a camping trip! I get excited and plan everything well in advance.
I usually google the phrase ‘camping checklist’ and look through a few of the resulting lists for ideas.
Here’s a good one: http://www.lovetheoutdoors.com/camping/Checklists.htm

That’s a highly subjective question. Some people require that their camping environment be able to replicate all the creature comforts and standard of living they have at home…while others believe that anything more than a field knife means you’re not really camping.
Just thought I’d get that out. Beyond that, your other answerers have given good lists of items already.
Find out what facilities the site has to start with cause then you can decide what to take.
Cups
Plates
Cutlery
MONEY (for food)
Wash stuff
Cooker
Bikes (keep you entertained for a while)
Sleeping bags
Sleeping mats
Pans
Warm clothing (it may not seem cold but in a tent at night it can get cold so jumpers)
TENT (it does help to have one of these)
Waterproof clothing
Just enjoy yourself look on the internet what stuff is there so you have stuff to do
…. food, a place to sleep, soap, firewood?
